ARCALIS to Showcase its Latest mRNA Manufacturing Technologies at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology and the 67th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Virology.

ARCALIS will exhibit a booth at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology and the 67th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Virology in Niigata. Furthermore, Dr. Akiko Yanagiya from Business Development will give a talk at the Symposium and Yuko Misumi from our Analytical Development Department will present a poster. We warmly invite all attendees to visit our booth, a symposium lecture and a poster session.

Title:        Next-Generation Vaccines Based on mRNA Therapeutics: Development and Future Perspectives
Abstract:                  mRNA therapeutics demonstrated rapid vaccine design and manufacturing as well as high efficacy during the COVID-19 pandemic, establishing themselves as a highly practical next-generation vaccine modality compared with conventional vaccines. mRNA-LNP technology enables flexible and rapid design of antigen sequences, standardized manufacturing processes, and short-term scale-up, making it a platform well suited for rapid responses to infectious disease outbreaks. Clinical development and practical application are currently advancing for vaccines targeting infectious diseases such as seasonal influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV), while applications in personalized medicine, including cancer neoantigen vaccines, are also expanding. Furthermore, technological innovations such as modified nucleic acids, LNP-based delivery technologies, self-amplifying mRNA (saRNA), and circular RNA (circRNA) have improved immune responses, stability, delivery efficiency, and the durability of antigen expression. In this presentation, we will demonstrate that mRNA therapeutics are an excellent next-generation modality for infectious disease vaccines and that they are a highly versatile modality applicable to cancer and immune-related diseases as well. We will also discuss our efforts as a CDMO in the development and manufacturing of mRNA therapeutics.

Title: Evaluation of an in vitro Potency Assay for the Development of an Avian Influenza H5N1 mRNA Vaccine
Summary:               To evaluate antigen expression in an avian influenza H5N1 mRNA vaccine candidate, we developed a cell-based ELISA to detect HA protein with high sensitivity. In this assay, optimization of the antibody pair and selection of the Hep3B cell line enabled highly sensitive measurement of HA protein expression following transfection with the mRNA-LNP vaccine candidate, demonstrating the effectiveness of this assay system as an in vitro potency test.
